Volunteer Soccer Coaches
For the Thief River Falls Soccer Association, volunteer coaches are the backbone of the success of our teams and program as whole. In order to keep team sizes small and maximize playing time, many volunteer coaches are needed. Training is available through the Coaching Director and area soccer clinics.
If you have a special request or want more information about coaching, please contact the President Collin Longo ([email protected]).
Coaches are vital part of our soccer club and have the greatest potential to positively impact our players, parents and fans. To compensate our volunteer coaches, a parent/guardian who coaches a team will receive free registration for a child.
All coaches MUST complete a background check and SafeSport Sexual Harassment Training
Adults, administrators, and referees turning 18 before August 31 of this year are required to complete a background check and sexual harassment training. To complete the background check, you will need to create an account (if you don't already have one) with MYSA's affinity sports platform.
Background Check
Once you complete the background check, you will receive an email verification and a code to complete the SafeSport Sexual Harassment and Concussion training. You will need the code from the email to access the training.
SafeSport Sexual Harassment Training
Travel coaches (U10+) must also complete concussion training every 3 years. This is a MN Law and must be done. Once done please send your completion certificate to [email protected]. If you have a current certificate, please email a copy to the coaching director.
Concussion Training
Note: Heading is not allowed for players 11 and under.
Interested in being a referee?
We are looking for referees! Please contact Collin Longo ([email protected]) if you are interested. Training is available. Referees are a paid position! If you missed the spring deadline, there are opportunities to get your referee training done over the summer so you can coach in the fall or next year.
Field Crew.
Field Crew manages the "Raiders Tent" where time clock will be held, medical bag, lost and found, and safety/risk assessment is held. Field Crew also maintains the fields on a weekly and monthly inspections.
Join the TRFSA Board
If you interested or would like more information on any positions, please message TRF Soccer on Facebook or click the link to fill out the application for TRFSA Open Positions.
Board meetings are once a month and last 1-2 hours, depending on the time of year. Each board position has different time requirements during the season that can range from 5-15 hours. Example: the Registrar will help more during February-April during our registration time and the Field Coordinator keeps the fields lined from April-July. When all board positions are filled, it is much easier to keep the time commitments low.
Board members receive a credit for one player registration each season.
