Volunteer Soccer Coaches
For the Thief River Falls Soccer Association, volunteer coaches are the backbone of the success of our teams and program as whole. In order to keep team sizes small and maximize playing time, many volunteer coaches are needed. Training is available through the Coaching Director and area soccer clinics.
If you have a special request or want more information about coaching, please contact the TRFSA President Collin Longo ([email protected]).
Coaches are vital part of our soccer club and have the greatest potential to positively impact our players, parents and fans. To compensate our volunteer coaches, a parent/guardian who coaches a team will receive free registration for a child.
All coaches MUST complete a background check and SafeSport Sexual Harassment Training
Adults, administrators, and referees turning 18 before August 31 of this year are required to complete a background check and sexual harassment training. To complete the background check, you will need to create an account (if you don't already have one) with MYSA's affinity sports platform.
Background Check
Once you complete the background check, you will receive an email verification and a code to complete the SafeSport Sexual Harassment and Concussion training. You will need the code from the email to access the training.
SafeSport Sexual Harassment Training
Travel coaches (U10+) must also complete concussion training every 3 years. This is a MN Law and must be done. Once done please send your completion certificate to [email protected]. If you have a current certificate, please email a copy to the coaching director.
Concussion Training
Note: Heading is not allowed for players 11 and under.
Uploading your Concussion and SafeSport Training Certificates
Upon completion of each training, you will receive a certificate of completion that must
be uploaded into your MYSA account for your club to validate. Below are the steps to
upload your certificate:
1. Save each certificate as a PDF directly from the training portals.
2. Login to your MYSA account and go to your Certificates tab.
3. Click on the appropriate box to upload your file, click choose file, choose the
appropriate file to upload, click on the green “Upload Image” button. The pop-up box will
close and your certificate will replace the generic upload certificate picture that was
previously in the box.
If your first name, last name and email address match in your MYSA account and SafeSport, then your completion certificates will be electronically updated in your MYSA account and no upload is needed.
If you are new or just completed another Concussion training, you will need to upload the Concussion certificate into your account. There is no connection between your MYSA account and the Concussion Training.
